Functional materials (Submajors: biomedical textile materials and technology, biomaterials, new energy and photoelectric materials)
The major of Functional materials, which requires by the national strategy, is supported by the Ministry of Education. This major roots in the strong majors of textiles, material sciences and biochemistry in Donghua University. There are three submajors, biomedical textile materials and technology, biomaterials, new energy and photoelectric materials. After finished two-years course program, students in this major will select their submajor based on the scores, submajor resources and their interests.

Biomedical textile materials and technology
This submajor involves in the study of the basic knowledge of biology, medicine, biomedical textiles and their combination, and aims to improve the abilities of students on the laboratory operation, design, development of new products, merchandise and management. The students need to get familiar with the latest development in functional design, biomedicine textile materials/technologies and merchandise. The students will have the ability to work for the development, fabrication, education, management and merchandise in the fields of biomedical textiles, artificial organs, functional biomaterials and textiles for health care.
